Heading Out is all about using the hours shooting time to achieve 2 completely different high quality actor headshots. This is extremely high quality professional image making and much more technical than standing you in front a big studio light or red brick wall. The time is spent coaching you, sculpting your face with lighting and shooting great headshot photography designed to get your more castings.

Viewing and selecting your images after the shoot is made easy with our online proofing system. Online proofing replaces the paper based contact sheet system and is a much more efficient way to share and get feedback from agents and advisors about headshot choices.

Your chosen headshots will receive standard retouching to give them extra contrast, clarity, vibrance and minor blemish removal.

We offer an optional Advanced retouching service carried out to magazine standard – in other words, the image will look perfect and you won’t be able to tell that it’s been retouched. Advanced retouching takes about an hour per image because it is done on a pore-by-pore basis, leaving all skin texture intact. This level of retouching would also even out any skin discolouration, remove temporary spots, lighten under the eyes and take care of fly away hairs. Ladies – should never underestimate the importance of makeup for your actor headshots. The makeup you wear in daily life and that worn on screen and stage is not the same. So, unless you’ve studied makeup for photography, get your makeup done professionally. A professional makeup artist knows what makeup looks good on camera and will make you look your best.

Guys – do benefit from the help of professional hair and makeup artist especially if they have oily skin, redness or patchiness. Guys can also benefit from professional help with hair styling to achieve a number of looks.

Get Ahead gives us plenty of time to spend together creating 4 different commercial and or theatrical character driven headshots tailored around your casting goals. For some of the headshot photography we create during a Get Ahead session we may use in excess of six studio lights, reflectors and light blocking shadow enhancing flags to create just one look. While we’re setting up these complex studio sets,  you get time to change cloths, hair/makeup and the lads can shave if they wish. Plus there’s enough time for you to have a break between the 4 sessions to mentally prepare for each shoot. With any time spare we can experiment a little once we’ve got our killer shots in the bag.

A Heads Above session in our studio is around 4 hours as this includes hair and make up time, studio changes, styling changes and the same complex lighting we during a Get Ahead session. The PhaseOne 60 million pixel camera system we use for most of a Heads Above shoot connects straight to the computer and with a click of the shutter the headshot appears on a big screen. Additional time is needed to view the first few shots on the big screen together, make adjustments to lighting, clothing, hair and make up, and then continue to shoot each of the 4 sessions safe in the knowledge we’ve got everything perfect. The difference this makes to each session is incredible because the actor knows he/she looks exactly how they want to look and this increases their enthusiasm and energy levels which we capture with every click of the shutter. You can also choose to include some 1/2 body/ 3/4 length shots in this package

After the shoot we will email you an online proofing gallery containing all the usable images taken during the session. This proofing gallery has lots of useful functionality to help you shortlist your headshots. You can even share the gallery with agents, acting coaches or others who can help you make the right selections. The amount of images contained within the proofing gallery may very based on a persons skills and confidence in front of the camera, but we guaranteed they’ll be lots of amazing shots to choose from even for the most camera shy.
